Ardyce J. Wienert

August 26, 1931 — July 23, 2015

Ardyce J. Wienert was born on August 26, 1931 to Elnora (Eden) and John Will in Holstein, Iowa. In high school she lettered in the band playing the kettledrum, and also on the girl’s basketball team. She graduated with honors from Holstein High School in 1949. She worked as a bookkeeper, secretary and receptionist for Harvey’s Appliance in Holstein for three years before moving to California.

Ardyce was united in marriage to Earl Wienert on May 25, 1954. From this union two children were born, Mike and Malea. The couple lived in California until Earl was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in October of 1954. They returned to Holstein and farmed for two years, then went back to California. In 1959 they returned to Holstein, and for the next 33 years the couple farmed the land that had been in Earl’s family for four generations. Ardyce was in charge of the business end of the farming enterprise. After retiring from farming, she worked at Casey’s from 1986-2004.

She enjoyed spending the summers with her grandchildren visiting from Arizona, teaching numerous children how to water ski and surf, participating in county fairs, and “supervising” Rory and Sara’s family while they worked on mowing equipment. She also enjoyed family vacations with Ramon Johnson’s family.

Ardyce was involved in numerous circles at the United Methodist Church, worked the turkey supper for 60 years, and the Women’s Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed card clubs, exercise classes, driving friends to appointments, and quilting. She also enjoyed playing cribbage with her lifelong friend, Betty Waller (as children and again in Char-Mac). She was always on the go. She enjoyed people and she never met a stranger. She was always willing to help in any way that she could.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl B. Wienert, parents-in-law, Bernhardt and Irene Wienert; brother, Arlo Will, brothers-in-law, Lloyd Wienert and wife Geneva, Wilbur Wienert and wife Winola; sisters-in-law, Lanore Bubke and Helen Wienert.

Ardyce is survived by her children, Mike and wife Becky (Stocking) Wienert of Tucson, AZ and Malea and husband Charles Stiner of Hereford, AZ; grandchildren, Chad and Stephanie Wienert of LaMont, MO, Lisa Jo Wienert Moore of San Francisco, CA and John Wienert of San Francisco, CA; great-grandson, Alex Wienert of Boone, IA and great-great-granddaughter, Kaleigh Keubler of Woodward, IA; brothers-in-law, Lester Wienert of Pittsburg, MO and Glenn Bubke of Kingsley, IA; sister-in-law Evelyn St. Peter of Sioux City, IA; special friends, Rory and Sara Carstens and sons, Matt and Darren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
