August L Bahrke

August L. Bahrke, age 60, of Correctionville, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at the Correctionville Community Center of Correctionville with military rites conducted by the American Legion Mumford-Moon Post #79 and VFW Sioux Valley Post #1750 of Correctionville.

August Ludvig Bahrke was born April 16, 1964 in Ft Dodge, Iowa to Leo and Rosalee (Davis) Bahrke.  He graduated from Eastwood High School.

August joined the United States Navy and served for 20 years in Spain, Iceland and Saudi Arabia.  He worked as a navigation equipment tech, a career information program advisor, and a system organization maintenance tech, then as an instructor in Florida for eight years. While he was in the service, August was united in marriage to Cheryl (Greenlee) Bahrke.  They later divorced. After retirement from the Navy he moved back to Correctionville and started Ruralwaves, an internet service for local communities. In his free time August enjoyed hunting, kayaking, camping and being outdoors.

He is survived by his mother, Rose Bahrke; sisters, Becky (Don) McHale and Carla (Mark)  Mathers; brother, Cary (Stacey) Bahrke and several nieces and nephews.

August was preceded in death by his father, Leo Barhke; brother, Kurt Bahrke, and sister, Sharon Kennedy.
