Betty J. Grieme was born on September 15, 1926 to Willard and Nellie (Conklin) Jennett in Sac City, Iowa. She lived in Sac City until the 5th grade, when they moved to Vestal Street in Storm Lake, Iowa. She lived in this home until her marriage. Betty graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1944.
She was united in marriage to Donald Grieme on February 3, 1946. Betty enjoyed staying home to raise their four children. After they were grown she worked for the Alta Advertiser as well as Montgomery Ward.
Betty was a 4-H leader as well as a Sunday school teacher at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed counting crosstitch and gave her family many special keepsakes that she has made. She also enjoyed reading, baking, watching the birds and squirrels at her feeder and cutting quilt blocks for the LWML. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in their music and sporting events.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 31 years, Donald; three brothers and two sisters.
Betty is survived by her children, Susan Bales (George) Topeka, KS, Barbara Reel (Russell) of Des Moines, IA, Larry Grieme (Sue) of Alta, IA, Paul Grieme (Lisa Goodman) of Alta, IA; Grandchildren, Angie Maloy (Dan), Sara Grieme, Laurie Sanders (Nate), Johanna Hicks (Doug), Kelly Grieme (Luke Drefke), Emily Grieme (Tyler Sliefert); great-grandchildren, Nate Titus and Caroline Sanders; sister-in-law, Leah Jennett of CA; four nephews and one niece.
