Bonnie F. Strawn

October 21, 1927 — August 14, 2014

Bonnie Florke Strawn was born in Correctionville, Iowa to Rudy and Lelia (Foster) Florke on October 2, 1927. She graduated from Correctionville High School in 1946. Growing up, Bonnie and cousin, Norma Nelson were very close and were more like sisters than cousins.

She was united in marriage to Buck Strawn on September 14, 1946. To this union two sons were born, Ronald and Jonathan.

Bonnie spent 30 years of her life in California, where she loved the beach, shopping, the weather, and her two swimming pools. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe. She took many family vacations with her two sons and her husband. She also liked camping, going on walks, reality television, a good joke, dancing and music. Bonnie was fun-loving. She loved caring for her flower garden. Bonnie enjoyed eating at the Milwaukee Weiner Shop and chicken salad sandwiches. She took pleasure in driving her Mercedes convertible as well as going to the hairdresser. She was an animal lover, and loved her bulldogs, all of which were named Tuffy. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. Bonnie was a very elegant lady and enjoyed dressing to the nines. She was Buck’s trophy wife.

Bonnie was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; parents-in-law, Martha (Deeds) and Claire Strawn; and her brother, Darrell Florke.

Bonnie is survived by her sons, Ronald Strawn of Correctionville, IA, and Jonathan (Erin) Strawn of Sioux City, IA; former daughter-in-law, Rita Strawn of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Jessica Strawn of CO, Natalie Strawn of Omaha, NE, Danielle Strawn-Poe (Maurice) of Hinton, IA, Ian Strawn of Seattle, WA, Noah Schumacher of Cushing, IA, Kayson Strawn of Sioux City, IA and Cody Strawn of Sioux City, IA; sister-in-law, Marlene Florke of Twin Falls, ID and her three sons, Dennis, Doug and David Florke; and many extended relatives and friends.
