Bruce Lundt

September 6, 1949 — November 28, 2023

Correctionville

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bruce Norman Lundt, 74, of Cushing, IA who left us on November 28, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society in Holstein, IA.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 5:30 P.M. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.  A visitation with family present will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. Military rites will be conducted by F. Roger Baumann Post #624.

Bruce was born on September 6, 1949, in Battle Creek, IA to Virgil Lundt and Emma Jean Else. He grew up on the family farm with his brother Marc just outside of Cushing. He graduated from Eastwood High School in 1967. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1971. Upon returning home from the Navy, Bruce dedicated himself to the family farm, working alongside his father and brother. In later years, he farmed with his son Matthew and nephew Marshall Lundt.

Bruce married Renée Law on April 2, 1983. In the years to follow, Bruce had a passion for farming. In addition to staying busy on the farm he enjoyed being a River Valley school bus driver for 20 years, subbing on routes and driving teams to many sporting events. He particularly enjoyed driving the bus when one of his children was on the teams, allowing him to watch them play.  Bruce was a proud legion member for over 50 years, and made it a point to never miss a legion pancake breakfast fundraiser. He found great joy in talking about anything related to the farm, and the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.

In March, a vehicle collision left Bruce in critical condition after which he began the hard work necessary to rebuild the skills that might allow him to return to the farm life that he loved so much. His time spent in recovery will be remembered for his self-deprecating humor, joking with doctors and nurses, a particular concern for staff and his desire to make sure they were taking long breaks and getting enough to eat.  He was known to be quick to express appreciation and gratitude.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Renée of Correctionville, IA; children: Graham (Danae) Lundt and their children Mason, Miles, Mya of Gilbert, IA; Emily Lundt (Zachary McKeever) of Rochester, MN; Matthew (Lauren) Lundt and their children Jacob, Abigail, and Lillian of Correctionville, IA; and Samuel Lundt of Columbia, MO; sister-in-law Lana Lundt of Cushing, IA; mother-in-law BettyLou Law of Marcus, IA; sister-in-law Roxann (Charles) Baker of Primghar, IA; brother-in-law Rickie (Michelle) Law of Seymour, MO; sister-in-law Robin (Ray) Corzilius of Cherokee, IA; and many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Emma Jean, and brother Marc Lundt, sister-in-law Judy Law, and father-in-law Verle Thomas “Tom” Law.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be directed to the American Legion Post #624 F Roger Baumann in Cushing, IA.
