Caroljean Ann Pedersen was born in Albert City, Iowa to Emil and Edna Olin. As a child she was a 4-H member, participated in All-State choir and Luther League and competed in many piano competitions. She graduated from Albert City High School in 1950. After high school, she earned a degree in elementary education from Iowa State Teachers College. She taught third grade in Alta for two years.
Caroljean was united in marriage to David V. Pedersen in 1954. To this union five children were born. She was a homemaker extraordinaire. She was a wonderful seamstress and cook, and always brought meals to the field at harvest time. Her family has fond memories of her hosting the annual 4th of July fireworks at the farm, fishing with the family, organizing Thanksgiving BINGO, babysitting for grandchildren and making special care boxes for her children and grandchildren at the holidays. She was involved in PEO, Presbyterian Women, and a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. Caroljean was an outstanding pianist and organist and was the organist for the First Presbyterian Church, where she was a member.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Dick Olin; parents-in-law, Vernley and Erna Pedersen; and brother-in-law, Dean Frish.
She is survived by her daughters, Ann Pedersen, Sue Pedersen, Mary (Doug) DeRoos; sons, Mike (Mary) Pedersen, Dan Pedersen; grandchildren, Leah (Tyler) Harms, Adam Pedersen and David DeRoos; one great-grandson, Evan Harms; one brother, Kendall (Eleanor) Olin; and sister-in-law, Joyce Frish.
