Celia A. Forristal was born on March 7, 1931 to Hugh and Florence (Hass) McGuire in Cherokee, Iowa. Celia was very proud of her Irish heritage. She attended St. Mary’s College of Notre Dame, Indiana and graduated from Creighton University in Omaha in 1953 with a B.S. in Sociology.
Celia was united in marriage to Pat Forristal on April 7, 1956. The couple adopted four children and raised them in their hearts. Family was very important to Celia; she always made everyone feel special.
Celia loved to read and would consume 3-4 newspapers each day. She also enjoyed writing letters and sending newspaper clippings. Celia was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church where she was a religious education teacher and served on the Rosary Society. She was also a member of Nacirema, Holstein Centennial Committee, Library Board, Music Parents, and the Holstein Betterment. Celia received the Governor’s Award in 1992 from the Holstein Community Club.
She is survived by her husband, Pat of Holstein, IA; children, Matt (Mary) Forristal of Holstein, IA, Ann Forristal of Holstein, IA, Mary Brigid Seshasayee of Ashburn, VA, John T (Jennifer) Forristal of Holstein, IA; grandchildren, John, Sarah and Emily Forristal, Bridget Ann Johnson, Nathan, Peyton and Genevieve Garcia, and Matthew, Beck and Elizabeth Forristal; and two great-grandchildren; brother, Jim McGuire of Holstein, IA; sister, Mary Venrick of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents; brother, Pat; her in-laws, Margaret McGuire, Rita McGuire, Jim Forristal, Betty Forristal, Francis Guinan and Rose Steinke.
