Chester “Chet” C. Challman was born October 13, 1931 to Doris (Bochwoldt) and Chester C. Challman in an old farmhouse in Sac County, Iowa. He graduated from Galva High School and went to the U.S. Trade School in Chicago, IL. He served in the U.S. Air Force from July 20, 1950 to November 9, 1953 and met his bride while stationed in England.
On March 21, 1954, he married Jean Needham at the Galva Methodist Church. To this union two children were born, Chris and Rosemary.
Chet enjoyed fishing and hunting and all things outdoors as well as taking trips to Texas and Minnesota. He loved to work on engines and for many years worked on school buses. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Holstein.
Chet was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Diane Challman.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of Holstein, IA; son, Christopher Challman of Longmont, CO; daughter, Rosemary and husband, Dr. Gary Jacobs of Longview, TX; grandchildren, Justus Challman and Lauren Gibbs, Jennea Challman and husband Nathan Genardi, Joshua Jacobs; three great-grandchildren with two on the way; and a sister JoAnna Challman.
