Chloe Marie (Walker) Specketer was born in Alta, Iowa on June 23, 1936 to Everette and Helen (Peterson) Walker. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. During her school years, she sang in the church and school choir, as music was a large part of her life.
Chloe graduated from Alta High School in 1954 and went to work at the Buena Vista County Treasurer’s Office until her marriage to Dwaine Specketer on July 29, 1956. While Dwaine was stationed in Germany in the Army, she moved to Champaign, Illinois to live with her parents. When Dwaine returned, they moved to a farm near Hanover and began farming. Dwaine was called home to be with the Lord in 1994. Chloe continued to live on the farm until her death.
Church and music were very important to Chloe. She taught Sunday School and midweek classes for many years. She loved to talk to people and she always had a special “knack” for sending just the right card to just the right person when they needed it the most.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen (Van) Kemper and Everette Walker; her parents in law, Lester (Leone) and Esther Specketer; her husband, Dwaine Specketer; and great grandson, Zailin Linke.
Survivors include her children, Darcy Stevens of Denison, Diana (Chris) Niehaus of Alta, Donna (Steve) Baxter of Alta, and David Specketer of Alta; grandchildren, Jennifer Stevens, Heather Stevens, Kayla Stevens, Libby Linke, Andrew Niehaus, Kathryn (Thomas) Fitzgerald, Kimberly Niehaus, Jahred Baxter, Sarah Baxter, Jacob Baxter, Joshua Baxter, and Darin Specketer; great grandchildren, Amethyst, Kalenna, Christian, Michael, Andrew, Adia, Marley, and Allie; as well as many extended family and friends.
