Clarence Vernon Todd, age 95, of Quimby, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Sanford Medical Center of Sioux Falls. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with the Pastor Del Olivier officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.

Clarence was born on April 5, 1929, to Otto and Lillie (Meister) Todd on the family farm in Silver Township. He attended Quimby Schools, graduating in 1948.

He was united in marriage to Bernice Miller on March 18, 1956, at the Grant Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grant Township, Ida County, and was baptized at the same church in 1957. Their union was blessed with four children. One could easily see by the look in his eyes the pride and joy he had spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.

Clarence’s other love after God and family was farming. He didn’t see it as work, but it was his passion. He loved going out tilling the land, planting the seed, and harvesting the crop. With God’s blessings and his own determination, he was able to begin helping with the harvest up to his last days. He loved raising cattle and driving the skid loader that the family kiddingly called his “office.”

Clarence was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Holstein, Iowa. He loved gathering after services for coffee hour to visit with family and friends. He also enjoyed serving as a Table Parent for Logos for five years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Lillie; siblings and in-laws, Gladys Todd, Ralph & Delores Todd, Don & Delores Todd, Eva & Robert Dittmer, Darrell Todd, Rose & Pete Godbersen, Agnes & Leroy Boock, Frank Todd, Dale Todd, and Eugene “Pete” Todd, great-grandchildren, Layton Todd and Evy Stevenson; parents-in-law, Clarence & Eula Miller, and brother and sister-in-law Lawrence & Barbara Miller.

Clarence will be lovingly remembered by his wife Bernice; children Carolyn (Bill) Foley, Wayne (Reta) Todd, Marvin (Lorraine) Todd and Bonnie (Dave) Stevenson; 17 grandchildren, Adam (Sharon) Todd, Kayla (Cole) Lennon, Abby (Nathan) James, Dave (Roxy) Stevenson Jr., Missy Briggs, Emily Todd, Andy (Lindsey) Todd, Brandon (Shanade) Stevenson, Rachel Wallerstedt, Austin (Kelsey) Todd, Eric (Meagan) Todd, AJ (Kim) Stevenson, Joe (Jessica) Foley, Ethan Todd, Shelby (Sasha) Stevenson, Skylar Stevenson, and Kolby Stevenson; 32 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; siblings and in-laws, Gail (Nancy) Todd, Kenneth (Janie) Todd, Elvera Todd, Carolyn Todd and Donna Todd; his Goddaughter, Ann; and numerous nieces and nephews.
