Connie Leuschen

Connie J. Leuschen went to her heavenly home on July 28, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church of Holstein with the Msgr. Kenneth A. Seifried officiating. Burial will be held at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.

Connie was born to Hal Scott and Arlene Scott on January 24, 1953.  She joined three older brothers, Gayle, Dale and Mike in Cherokee, Iowa.  She was later joined by sister Joan. She graduated high school in Cherokee in 1971.

On August 1,1971 she moved to Sioux City to work at the dietary department at St. Luke’s hospital.  On that day she met her future husband, Bob Leuschen. They were married on February 26, 1972 in Cherokee at Trinity Lutheran Church.  To this marriage welcomed three sons Tony (Debra), Adam (Heather) and Andy (Lindsey) to their home in Holstein.  To these unions seven grandchildren were welcomed: Zachary, Rachel, Grace, Gwen, Landon, Tatem and Sawyer.

As the boys moved into Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts Connie became and integral part of them becoming Eagle Scouts.  Connie contributed many hours as a Den Mother, committee member and merit badge counselor. She rarely missed any of her sons wrestling meets. For much of her adult life Connie was a registered child day care provider and treated those children as her own.

She was an active and faithful member of Our Lady of Good Cousel Catholic church in Holstein. For many years she was also a member of Nacirema, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society.  She was an avid reader and a wonderful cook and baker.  Connie  was well known for her cream puffs and the most delicious pies. She was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan.

Connie is survived by her husband, Bob; her three sons and daughters-in-law, seven grandchildren; brother, Mike (Linda) Scott of Aurelia; sister, Joan Donahue of Sioux City, IA and sisters-in-law, Mary Scott of Cherokee and Barb Scott of Cherokee and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hal and Arlene Scott and brothers, Dale and Gayle.
