D. Duane Wiese was born May 20, 1949 to Donald W. and Vera (Nielsen) Wiese in Cherokee, Iowa. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa in 1949 and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Cleghorn, Iowa on April 16, 1961. He graduated from Meriden-Cleghorn High School on May 24, 1967 and graduated from Westmar College in LeMars on May 20, 1972. After college he worked at Grawburg Accounting, Tuttle Painting and worked on the State Highway Survey Crew.
Duane was married to Linda Brake on July 6, 1974. To this union three sons were born, Troy, Brent and Nathan. Duane farmed on the family farm. He and Linda also owned a small business, Boyz-n-Berries in Spirit Lake from 2003-2013.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father in-law.
Duane is survived by his wife, Linda Wiese of Alta; sons, Troy Wiese and wife Jen of Ankeny, IA, Brent Wiese of Ankeny, Iowa, and Nathan Wiese of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Ryan and Kylee Wiese; parents, Donald and Vera Wiese of Larrabee, IA; and sister, Carolyn Wiese of Larrabee, as well as many cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta.
Funeral:
D. Duane Wiese, age 64, of Alta, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center of Storm Lake. A private family funeral service at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Alta with the Rev. Craig A. Cummins officiating.
Burial:
Burial will be at the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery of Storm Lake.
