Dale T. “Hammer” Davis was born August 27, 1929 in St. Charles, Iowa to Thelma (Riherd) and Harold “Joe” Davis. As a child he moved to Alta and graduated from Alta High School. Upon graduation, he joined the Navy. He lived in California until 1999 when he returned to Alta.
Hammer worked as a finished carpenter. He was considered legally blind, but in 2008 he bowled a “300 game” and was then named Alta Citizen of the Year. The family has many fond memories, but a favorite memory is of a fun-filled weekend when Hammer took his wife, children and father to Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm in California.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alphadene and Thelma and brothers, Jim and Joe Dean.
He is survived by his sons, Jim (Jolleen) Davis, Bill (Kathy) Davis, Tom Davis and Sam (Carolyn) Davis; grandchildren, Jessica, Gene, Craig, Chawn, Cherise, Chad Chris, Chayne, Sueko, LeLand, Aja and Dale; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Natalie, Jordan, Chad, Ceanna and William.
