Daniel Ray Brauninger was born April 3, 1957 to Donald and Patricia (Spahn) Brauninger in Sioux City, Iowa. He was raised in rural Correctionville and lived in Correctionville his entire life.
As a young man he enjoyed racing his Mach I and riding his snowmobile. Dan was married for 25 years and was blessed with two beautiful daughters.
Dan worked as a farmer and a truck driver. He enjoyed helping in the Tractor Pulling Association, and was always there to lend a helping hand for his friends. In his free time, Dan enjoyed participating in tractor pulls, riding his Harley Davidson, target shooting and golfing. Most of all, his favorite time was spent on the farm, in the shop with his father Don, which he called his best friend.
Dan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest and Hazel Brauninger and Frieda and Julius Spahn; and brothers-in-law, Joe Hatley and Dan McKelvey.
He is survived by his parents, Don and Pat Brauninger of Correctionville, Iowa; daughters, Jessica Brauninger of Overland Park, KS and Jamie (Richard) Spotten of Sergeant Bluff, IA; two grandchildren, Ethan and Taylor Spotten; sister, Yvonne (Dave) McFarland of Moville, IA; former wife, Shelley Brauninger of Oklahoma City, OK; Krystal Kauffman Smith, special friend; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
