Darlene Walker

Darlene J. Walker, 76, of Correctionville, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville with Pastor Kiboko officiating. Burial will be at the Correctionville Cemetery of Correctionville. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services starting at 9:30 AM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville.

Darlene Joyce Schwarz was born September 2, 1947, in Anthon, Iowa, to Alvin and Margaret (Sweetie Drossel) Schwarz. She attended Anthon-Oto School and graduated in 1965.

On May 21, 1967, Darlene was united in marriage to Raymond Walker of Correctionville, Iowa in Battle Creek. They had one son, Scott. The couple lived and farmed the Walker century family farm southwest of Correctionville. In 2021, they move to Good Samaritan Society in Holstein, Iowa.

Darlene had a cake decorating business for 25 years. She was also a cook and manager of the Senior Center in Correctionville, from 1987 to 2021. She was an active member of Correctionville's Grace United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary. Darlene loved volunteering, baking, reading cooking magazines for new recipes to try and scrapbooking.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond; a son, Scott (Brenda) Walker of Holstein, Iowa; one brother, Steven (Sally) Schwarz of Roswell, New Mexico; two sisters, Carol Schwarz of Kearney, Nebraska and Diane (Kyan) Kirkholm of Waterloo, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Vicki Schwarz of Anthon, Iowa;  nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin; her mother, Margaret (Sweetie); and one brother, Walter.
