Delbert P. Kohn was born January 31, 1923 to Josephine (Heinen) and Francis “Frank” Kohn in Cherokee, Iowa. He was one of seven children. Delbert grew up on a farm north of Quimby, Iowa.He was united in marriage to Irene Todd on May 25, 1949. They moved south and east of Cushing where they spent the majority of their lives.
Delbert was a farmer and raised cattle for many years, which was something he loved. He also enjoyed bowling, boxing, and playing baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Karen Kohn; son, Rick Kohn; a brother, Melvin Kohn; and three sisters, Evelyn Brownmiller, Berniece Casey and Dorothy Crandell.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Irene of Cushing; children, Dennis Kohn of Holstein, Tom (Jackie) Kohn of Cushing, Janet (Kelly) Slink of Renner, S.D., and Tim (Holly) Kohn of Cushing; grandchildren, Mariah (Taten) Hingst of Tankton, S.D., Mike Morrow of Cherokee, Chad (Marla) Morrow of Cushing, Tony (Kim) Kohn of Cushing, Jason (Penny) Kohn of Cushing and Emma Kohn of Cushing; and great-grandchildren, Nick and Cody Hofstader, Brandi and Shannon Morrow, Austin Benberg, and Zoey, Bryen and Taden Kohn. He is also survived by sisters, Fran Dye and Midge Courtright.
