Delores M. Hoaglund, age 86, of Holstein, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Community Memorial Health Center of Hartley. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doresa K. Collogan officiating. Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.
Delores M. Hoaglund was born February 25, 1930 to Harry and Milda (Schlinz) Boock. She grew up on a farm west of Galva, Iowa and attended Galva Community School. Upon graduation, she met Elmer Hoaglund. They were united in marriage on December 20, 1947. They were blessed with three children: Dennis, Douglas and Diane.
Delores was a stay at home mom in addition to doing daycare and cleaning houses. She was a member of the Holstein United Methodist Church and belonged to various clubs at church. Delores enjoyed bowling and for many years bowled in a league. She also liked to play cards and Bingo. She loved telling stories in German and teaching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren German words. Delores always had a smile on her face and was up for a good laugh. She was a wonderful cook and made sure that no one left her home hungry!
She is survived by her children, Dennis Hoaglund and wife Bonnie of Holstein, IA, Douglas Hoaglund and wife Cindy of Hartley, IA and Diane Murphy and husband Chuck of Farwell, MI; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bernett Andresen of Holstein, IA.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Milda Boock; husband Elmer M. Hoaglund; brother, Wayne Boock; sisters, Florence Martin and Harriet Gehrts.
