Derick Michael Vielguth was born on February 25, 1990 in Sioux City, Iowa. He moved to Galva, Iowa in 1994. Derick, known to his friends as Goose, attended Galva- Holstein High School, where he played baseball. He graduated from Galva-Holstein High School in 2008. After graduation, he attended Western Iowa Technical College and earned a degree in Auto Mechanics in 2010.
Derick loved his family and friends and enjoyed being around others. He enjoyed listening to music, playing video games, camping, archery, hanging out with his friends, Ben and Brian and working on his cars. Derick also enjoyed watching sitcoms and would laugh non-stop at them. Derick had a great personality and loved to make others laugh. He enjoyed playing ping-pong with his mother and sisters, Ashley and Cassie. Goose enjoyed hunting with his dad and grandpa, Benny.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Georgene Cutsor and grandfather, Daryl Allen.
Derick is survived by his parents, Vickie and Dale Allen of Galva, IA; sisters, Ashley and Cassie Allen of Galva; grandpa, Richard Cutsor of Ponca, NE; grandma, Marge Allen of Galva; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation:
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the church.
Funeral:
Derick "Goose" Vielguth, age 23, of Galva, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2013. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the United Methodist Church of Galva with the Rev. Kristen D. Boysen officiating.
Burial:
Burial will be at the Galva Township East Cemetery of Galva.
