Donald Rae Gebers

Private family funeral services will be held for Donald R. Gebers, age 62, of Holstein, at a later date.  The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein in charge of the arrangements.

Don passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 at his home of Holstein.

Dr. Donald Rae Gebers was born October 29, 1956 in Cherokee, Iowa to Donald W. and Della Mae Gebers.  Don was a graduate of Holstein High School in 1975, then went on to study medicine, graduating in 1990.

Don was united in marriage to Sherry Susan Stout on August 12, 1978 at the Holstein United Methodist Church.  To this union one son was born, Donald Rae Wendell Gebers III.  The family made their home on a farm near Holstein, Iowa.

Don practiced medicine in Cherokee as an Internal Medicine Physician.  He enjoyed nature, wildlife and going camping.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry; son, Don Gebers III and wife Jeena Kouris; mother-in-law, Marvel Stout; sister, Deb (Mike) Wood; nephews, Jason (Gina) Wood and family, Jarod (Amanda) Wood and family; nieces, Dawn (Lonnie) Kabella and family and Dena Heeney. Brother-in-law, Mike (Martha) Stout; nephew, Adam (Andrea) Stout and family; nieces, Martha (Scott) Sibbel and family, Megan (Brian) Sibbel and family; sister-in-law, Donna (Kevin) Sundene; nephew, Noah Sundene and niece Sarah Sundene.  He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Diane Heeney; brother-in-law, Duane Heeney; and father-in-law, Morris Stout.
