Donald "Shoop" William Hoops

Donald W. Hoops, age 89, of Galva, passed away on Monday, April 03, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Society of LeMars.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Galva with the Rev. Paul D. Egger officiating.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein.

Don was born in Quimby, Iowa, on October 23, 1933, to Herman and Amanda Pieper Hoops. He was baptized May 2, 1937, and confirmed March 30, 1947, at St. John Lutheran Church, Galva. He married Joelle Minna Lemke of Holstein, Iowa, on June 13, 1954.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Luverne (in infancy); brothers Marvin and Harold, and sisters Golda Bithel and Gloria Leonard.

Survivors include his daughters, Gail and husband Jonathan Dorr of Marcus, Iowa, and Kimberly and husband David Buss of Glidden, Iowa; brother Raymond Hoops and wife Madonna of Ireton, Iowa; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
