Donna Darlene Hansen

Donna D. Hansen, age 97 of Correctionville, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 10:30 AM at the Grace United Methodist Church of Correctionville with Pastor Kim A. Crummer officiating.  Burial will be at the Correctionville Cemetery of Correctionville.  There will be no visitation.  The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville is in charge of the arrangements.

Donna was born November 10, 1922, the daughter of Herb and Fern (Strawn) Shever.  She spent her life in the Correctionville Community.  She graduated from Correctionville High School in 1940, where she took a Normal Training class.  She attended Wayne State College in Nebraska that summer.  That fall she started teaching rural school at age 17.  She taught several years in Woodbury and Ida Country School.

She married Darold C. Hansen on May 30, 1943.  Darold passed away December 8, 2008.  Donna enjoyed embroidering tea towels, fishing and traveling to Branson, MO with the Emerald Club of Ida Grove.  She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a former member of United Methodist Women.

Donna is survived by her son, Randall “Randy” Hansen and his wife, Kristin Mathers; granddaughter Erin Marie; grandson, Austin Ray; great-granddaughter Ella Marie and sister-in-law, Ella Heliker and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Darold; brother Darwin Shever and his wife Alice; niece Vicky Buck and nephew Donald Shever.
