Donnabell (Clapsaddle) Bumann

Donnabell Bumann, age 91, of Springdale, AR, formerly of Holstein and Galva, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Circle of Life Hospice of Springdale, AR.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the Arthur Evangelical Free Church of Arthur with the Rev. Larry J. Ostercamp officiating.  Burial will be at the Galva Township East Cemetery of Galva.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.

Donnabell was born in her parents’ farmhouse August 24, 1926 in Silver Creek Township, Ida County Iowa to Ira Leon and Edith (Calvert) Clapsaddle. Donnabell graduated from Galva High School in 1945 then attended Morningside College in Sioux City, earning a teaching certificate. She taught at the same rural school both she and her father attended.

Donnabell married Norbert Bumann on May 24, 1947 at her parents’ home in Galva. This union was blessed with three children: Jenene Renae, Douglas Norbert and Vickie Lea. Donnabell and Norbert farmed her parents’ land. Norbert passed away in 1987 and Donnabell stayed on the farm until 1990 when she moved to Galva. She cooked at the Ridgerunner’s Roost for 18 years, then moved to Holstein in 2007. In March of 2016, Donnabell moved to Morningside Assisted Living in Springdale, AR, to be close to her daughter Vic and granddaughter Tiffany Boyle.

Donnabell cleaned houses and baked for people, making cookies each week for the children in Awanas at her church, the Arthur Evangelical Free Church. Donnabell was a friend to many and stepped up to fix food when there was a sickness or death in the area. She enjoyed cooking, visiting with friends and family.  She also loved & missed farming with her husband Norbert.

Donnabell was preceded in death by her husband Norbert; brothers in-law Eugene Alton, Ervin Meisner, Verdean Bumann and wife Delores and Leonard Hansen; sisters in-law Olga Joslin and husband Evan and Deta Gebers and husband Fred.

Donnabell is survived by her children, Jenene Heisler and husband Larry of Cameron MO, Doug Bumann and wife Lauri of Colorado Springs CO and Vic Young and husband Brian of Prairie Grove AR; grandchildren, Ashley Harris and husband Luke of Honolulu, HI, Rachel Scholl and husband Grant of Dallas, TX, Lucas Bumann of Seattle WA, Danny Heisler of Phoenix, AZ, Troy Heisler and wife Robbin of Wentzville, MO, Joel Heisler and wife Sharron of Cameron, MO, Tiffany Boyle and husband Micheal of Fayetteville, AR, and Leighton Bumann of Santa Anna, CA. Donnabell was blessed with 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Marge Alton of Omaha NE, sisters-in-law, Florence Meisner of Holstein, Wilma Andrews of San Diego CA and Elsie Hansen of Concord CA and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Donnabell had a kind spirit, a generous heart and trusted the Lord to provide. She would give whatever she had to help others.
