Dorothea Marie Moller was born on a farm near Quimby, Iowa, to Christ and Anna (Rex) Daugaard on March 1, 1929. She attended country schools and graduated from Holstein High School in 1947. Dorothea worked for Storm King Hatchery until October 1951, when she married Wilbur Moller in El Paso, Texas. After Wilbur was discharged from the Army they farmed for four years before moving to Holstein, Iowa.
Dorothea and Wilbur’s daughter, Jacki was born in 1953, and their son, Wally was born in 1956.
Dorothea returned to work at Storm King Hatchery in 1959, staying for 17 years until it closed. She then worked for Holstein State Bank (now Heritage Bank) for 19 years before retiring.
Dorothea enjoyed her visits to Arizona to see Jacki, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed to her trips to Colorado to see Wally and other family members there. Dorothea enjoyed gardening, being a member of United Methodist Women, Naomi Circle, Logan Handy Helpers Club, and playing cards on Mondays at the center.
She is preceded in death by her parents Christ and Anna Daugaard; her sister, Beverly O’Meara; and brother Wayne Daugaard.
Survivors include her husband, Wilbur of Holstein, IA; daughter, Jacki Wilson of Avondale, AZ; and son, Wally of Red Feather Lakes, CO; granddaughter, Jessica and husband, Daniel Daley and their son, Cameron Thomas; grandson, Jake Wilson and his three children, Illiana, Hayden and Addy.
