Dr. Kenneth “Doc” William Gray was born July 3, 1924 to Earl William and A. Beulah (Collins) Gray in Eldora, Iowa. Ken was a graduate of Iowa State University, where he earned his degree in Veterinary Science. He served in the United States Air Force. He owned a veterinary practice in Galva, Iowa as well as the Galva Pig Market. He also worked as an Ida County Magistrate and at the Iowa Department of Agriculture.
Ken was united in marriage to Marjorie Ruth Hunt on June 16, 1947. To this union four children were born.
Doc was very involved in the community as a volunteer fireman in Galva, a member of the Galva American Legion, Ida County Conservation board, Odebolt Masonic Temple and the Galva City Council. He was also active in the Iowa State University Veterinary Association and Serpaci Auto Club. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Galva.
His favorite hobbies were golfing, fishing, hunting, farming, marksmanship, lapidary (rock hound), the outdoors, and coffee with friends. He also enjoyed motorcycling, snowmobiling, and vintage cars.
Survivors include his wife M. Ruth Gray of Holstein, IA; children, Jane (Roger) Ingledue of Spencer, IA, Anne (Keith) Collett of Chapman, KS, Beth (Mike) Biedenfeld of Manson, IA, and Tom (Sandy) Gray of Holstein, IA. Ken is also survived by his grandchildren, Mary Beth (Rachel) Leistad, Laura Leistad, Joseph Smallwood, 1st Lieut. Hank (Sara) Collett, Lucy Collett, Caroline Collett, Beatrice Biedenfeld (Justin Klein), Thomas Biedenfeld, Julianna Biedenfeld, Tristan (Cory) Kitch, KaileeGray (Dr. Steve Meek); and great-grandchildren, Grayson, Gillian and Michael Sullivan “Sulley” Kitch;sister-in-law, Leona; and many other family and friends.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dr. Dean H. Gray and Robert W. Gray; sister-in-law, Marjorie J. Gray and nephew, Brian Gray.
