Elaine D. Armiger

November 11, 1921 — December 29, 2013

Elaine (Gries) Dorothy Armiger was born November 11, 1921 to Otto and Lenora Gries in Holstein, Iowa. She was the loving wife of Charles E. Armiger whom she married February 12, 1941 in Holstein. She graduated from Holstein High School, and spent her entire life in Holstein except for several years during Charles military career when they lived in San Antonio, TX. She was an active member of the Cub Scouts, the United Methodist Church, Nacirema Club, Legion Auxiliary, and Republican Party, holding various offices. She enjoyed singing with the United Methodist Church choir, attending social and family functions and caring for her home and family. Her hobbies included vegetable gardening and canning, sewing clothes, knitting, painting rural scenes, dancing and playing the piano. Elaine and Charles always enjoyed their trailer weekending at Loon Lake, camping with the Holiday Ramblers and wintering at Canyon Lake, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; sister, Jeanette Bauer and husband, Melvin; and brother-in-law, Bill Flaskey. Elaine is survived by her sons, Orrin and wife Vicki of Bella Vista, AR, Larry and wife Julie of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren, Stephanie Armiger Luhman and husband Grant of Dayton, IA, Matthew Armiger and wife Courtney of Greenfield Center, NY, Christopher Armiger of Omaha, NE, Susan Cleveland and husband Jim of Boerne, TX, Traci Armiger of Lincoln, NE, Lori Armiger of Lincoln, NE; five great-grandchildren, Emma Luhmann of Dayton, IA, Benton and Elizabeth Cleveland of Boerne, TX and Ella and Addison Armiger of Greenfield Center, NY; and one sister, Arlene Flaskey of Brookings, SD. She was always very proud of her family and told everyone about them, especially of her childhood memories on the farm with her parents. The family would like to thank the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein for the loving care of Elaine.



Visitation:
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.


Burial:
Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein
