Eldon "Tootie" Heitmann

January 6, 1921 — December 14, 2013

Eldon “Tootie” Jurgen Heitmann was born January 6, 1921 to Julius and Sophronia (Goettsch) Heitmann. He attended Galva country school.

On May 20, 1941 he was united in marriage to Alice Jewell Otto. To this union five children were born. Tootie farmed north of Holstein for 25 years. After they moved to town, he worked as a groundskeeper for the golf course, managed the mobile gas station south of Holstein, drove a gas truck for Bill Jackes, drove a school bus, and then drove his own gravel truck, truck #44.

Tootie was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and a 50-year member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed camping, fishing and doing yard work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Sophronia; his brother, Lawrence Heitmann; grandsons, Wayne Bremer and Todd Bremer; and two son-in-laws, Doug Graff and Bob Meis.

Tootie is survived by his wife of 72 years, Alice Heitmann of Holstein, IA; four daughters, JoAnn Graff of Holstein, IA, Janice and husband, Charles Elledge of Bennington, NE, Judy and her husband Terry Folsom of Manchester, IA, Jean Bremer of Battle Creek, IA; one son, Jon Heitmann and wife Pam of Holstein, IA; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.



Visitation:
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a rosary at 4:30 PM and a scriptural prayer service at 7:00 PM at the church.


Funeral:
Eldon "Tootie" Heitmann, age 92, of Holstein, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday,


Burial:
December 17, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church of Holstein with the Very Reverend Richard D. Ball officiating. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery of Holstein.
