Elva Maryann (Frahm) Gebers

September 1, 1931 — November 27, 2017

Elva M. Gebers, age 86, of Holstein, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with the Rev. Melba E. Smith officiating.  Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 9:30 AM at the church.

Elva M. Elva MaryAnn Gebers was the daughter of Detlef and Margaret (Clausen) Frahm.  She was born September 1, 1931 on a farm near Pierson, IA.  The family moved to the Galva and Holstein area where she graduated from Holstein High School.  After graduation Elva worked for a lawyer in Holstein and then the Holstein State Bank until marrying Merlin Gebers on December 29, 1952.

Elva was a homemaker, helped on the family farm and raised their daughter, Karen.  Elva enjoyed playing cards in several card clubs and looked forward to family get-togethers.

Elva made her home at the Good Samaritan Society in May of 2017.  Daily visits from her family brightened her days.

Elva is survived by her husband Merlin; daughter, Karen and her husband, Dean Werner; grandson, Matthew Werner and his wife Molly and their children McKenzie and Jeannie.  She also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Mary Darrell) Gebers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and her husband, Anne and Willard Lohff; brothers-in-law, Don (Della) Gebers, Willard (Ethel) Gebers, Wayne Gebers and Darrell Gebers.
