Erma Harriet (Thorborg) Clausen was born June 27, 1918 to Ludwig and Laura Thorborg. She was born and raised in the Galva- Holstein area. She attended country school and graduated with an eighth grade diploma.
Erma was united in marriage to Lester P. Clausen on February 14, 1940. To this union three children were born. Erma was a proud mother, wife and homemaker. She and Lester were able to celebrate 56 years of marriage.
Erma was a lifetime member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Lutheran Women Auxiliary and WELCA. She was a member of a sewing club and several area card clubs. Erma especially enjoyed spending time with family, crocheting, gardening and spending time with nature.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester; daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Marven Wolthuis; a brother; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and her mother and father–in-law.
She is survived by her daughter, Ronda and husband Michael Gibney of Cedar Rapids, IA; son, James Clausen of Holstein, IA; granddaughters, Karla (Roger) Fiori of Grimes, IA, Erin (Jeff) Clausen of Cedar Rapids, IA and Tara Gibney of Chicago, IL; great-grandchildren, Merideth and Austin Fiori, and William, Thomas and Joseph Clausen; sister, Florence Hare of Blaire, NE ; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
