Eva was born on May 18, 1930, to Otto and Lillie (Meister) Todd on a farm north of Holstein, Iowa. Eva was the fifth born of 13 children. She attended country school and graduated from Quimby High School in 1948.
She was united in marriage with Robert Dittmer of Holstein on February 20, 1955. Together they were blessed with 4 children. First and foremost, Eva was a loving and supportive wife and mother, always there for her family in every way. She was a strong lady and worked alongside her husband on the farm, planting and harvesting the crops, vaccinating and caring for livestock. Eva was always busy and took on the roles of baker, gardener, seamstress, teacher, nurse, babysitter, artist, and volunteer.
Eva was a member of the Holstein United Methodist Church and Holstein American Legion Auxiliary. She was involved with various programs at the church and enjoyed serving and meeting new folks at Bingo every Tuesday night.
Eva had a fun and adventurous spirit which lead her to travel with family and friends and experience new things. She was a very creative artist and partook in many arts and crafts. She was talented at dry brushed ceramics and hand-made quilts for the children and grandchildren. Just looking at the finished product, you could see all of the hard work and love she put into it.
Eva had a big heart and a strong will. She never gave up and is a great example of strength, courage, determination, and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Valerie; daughter-in-law, Lynn (Miller) Dittmer; a brother, Dale in infancy; her brothers, Ralph Todd and Eugene “Pete” Todd; and sisters, Agnes Boock, Rose Godbersen, Gladys Todd; and a brother-in-laws, Leroy Boock, Howard Dittmer, Junior Skarin, Donald “Swede” Sundene, Ted Boldra; sister-in-laws Arlene Mohn, Lois Boldra, and Marie Sundene.
