Evelyn Mae (Stroud) Henrichsen

Evelyn M. Henrichsen, age 100, of Correctionville, formerly of Cushing passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the Correctionville Specialty Care of Correctionville.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. John Lutheran Church of Cushing with the Pastor Karl Seggerman officiating.  Burial will be at the Cushing Cemetery of Cushing.  There will be no visitation.

Evelyn was born October 9, 1923 on a farm in Cherokee County to Anuel and Annie (Stratton) Stroud.  She graduated from Quimby High School in 1942.  She was united in marriage to Albert Henrichsen on May 11, 1944.  They were blessed with four sons, Thomas, Vincent, Reed and Van.  They celebrated 67 years of marriage before Albert’s passing in 2011.

They were members of St. John Lutheran Church in Cushing.  They enjoyed their life farming and raising four boys. Leaving farm life behind they moved to Correctionville in the fall of 2010 due to Albert’s failing health.  He passed away in July 2011.  She loved the outdoors, always helping with chores, yard work, gardening and flowers.

She is survived by her four sons, Thomas (Wyma) of Correctionville, IA, Vincent (Vickie) of Sioux City, IA, Reed (Debra) of Des Moines, IA and Van (Debbie) of Pea Ridge, AR; grandchildren, Scott Henrichsen, Carrie (Tim) Azure, Amy (Tony Nussbaum) Hibbs, Brenda McNaughton, Jennifer Henrichsen, Jon (Stacy) Henrichsen, Michelle (Mark) Aasen and Ruth (Jake) Gillespie, Elizabeth (Russ) Shafer, Anthony (Nikki) Henrichsen, Kristi (Justin) Pointe, Russ Henrichsen; four step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandsons. She is also survived by one sister, Annabell Steele; one brother, Roy (Lydia) Stroud and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her parents; a stillborn daughter; grandson, Shawn Henrichsen; three brothers, Garland, Jerry and Darrell; two sisters, June Reinert and Betty Stevenson and Dorothy Clark and four brothers-in-law.
