Frances J. Schuett

Frances Schuett was born on June 21, 1925 in Fergus Falls, MN to Stener and Ingeborg (Hoel) Johnson. The family lived in Proctor and Austin, MN before moving to Cherokee, IA in 1939. Frances graduated from Wilson High School in 1944. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles, CA to attend Fashion Design School and returned to Cherokee in 1946.

Frances was introduced to her future husband, Eugene Schuett by her sister, Phyllis and they were married on May 25, 1947. Frances and Eugene lived in a house he built at 203 S. Lena in Holstein, Iowa for 48 years where they raised their three children: Brian, Angie and Kendall. They spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona befor moving to Spencer in 2006.

Frances was a homemaker and also worked for a local attorney as a tax preparer. She was an active volunteer in many community activities and loved all things Norwegian. She loved sewing for herself, her children and grandchildren. While her children were young, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, and was a Cub Scout Leader and Den Mother. She was a longtime member of the Nacirema Federated Women’s Club. Frances was also a 60-year member at the Holstein United Methodist Church and various church organizations.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2007; son Brian; and brothers, Herbert and Rocky Johnson and sister-in-law, Florine Weaver.

She is survived by daughter, Angela Rose (Richard) of Graettinger, IA; son, Kendall Schuett (Kathy) of Bettendorf, IA; four grandchildren, Wesley Rose (Lindsay) of Graettinger, IA, Lindsey Smith (Greg) of De Pere, WI, Sarah Houzenga (Aaron) of Bettendorf, IA and Holly Schuett of Marian, IA; and four great-grandchildren, Madison, Wyatt, Sidney and Vera. She is also survived by a brother, Harold Johnson of Seattle, WA and a sister, Phyllis Knutson of Austin, MN.
