Gary was born August 12, 1948 to Ewald and Betty (Van Valkingburg) Brodersen in Cherokee, Iowa. He attended school in Holstein where he lettered in track and football.
He was a welder at Simonsen Industries in Quimby for 26 years, worked for Russel’s Ready mix in Holstein and Ida Grove for some time, and was employed by Tyson in Cherokee for about five years. He liked writing poems, loved his cars and riding motorcycles, and he enjoyed every cigarette he ever had! Gary made special memories with his family camping, fishing and having picnics. He also enjoyed hunting with his father, brother and friends. He was a member of Holstein United Methodist Church.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kendall and many aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristina Brodersen of Cedar Rapids, IA; former wife Linda Brodersen of Holstein, IA; sisters, Jackie (Tom) Kohn of Cushing, IA, and LuAnn Faist of Holstein, IA; uncles, Homer “Pete” Stines and Lloyd Stines; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
