Gary George Voss

Gary G. Voss, age 58, of Des Moines, formerly of Quimby, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the UnityPoint Health-Iowa Methodist Medical Center of Des Moines.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein with the Msgr. Kenneth A. Seifried officiating.  Burial will be at the Grandview Cemetery of Quimby.  There will be no visitation.

Gary George Voss was born July 3, 1960 in Cherokee, Iowa to George John and Anna Louise (Klingborg) Voss.  He was a graduate of Willow High School in 1978.  Gary graduated from Faust Institute of Cosmetology in 1984.

Gary worked as a hairdresser in Cherokee and Des Moines, then worked for Red Lobster in Des Moines for ten years.  He was most recently employed at Christopher’s of Beaverdale, Iowa where he worked for the past 27 years.  Family was important to Gary; he frequently made trips back home to spend time with his sisters and family and was always there for their birthdays.  Gary was continuously helping out wherever he could with the family, especially during holidays.

Gary is survived by his siblings, Eva (Bob) Griffin of Holstein, IA, Reta (Wayne) Todd of Holstein, IA and Larry (Paula) Prokop of Garden City, KS; nephews, Levi Griffin of Holstein, IA, Toby (Areal) Griffin of Polk City, IA, Adam (Sharon) Todd of Bettendorf, IA, Andy (Lindsey) Todd of Cherokee, IA, Austin (Kelsey) Todd of Cherokee, IA; nieces, Abby (Nate) James of Cherokee, IA, Staci (Kelley) Prokop Van Beek of Brookings, SD, Terri (Jeff) Prokop Fredricksen of Cherokee, IA, Jason (Laura) Peck of Kasson, MN, Melaney Peck Anderson (Bob Ernst) of Adair, IA, Cindy (Richard) Rowland of Boone, IA, and Courtney Duffield of Garden City, KS; many great-nieces and nephews and his extended family from Christopher’s in Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Ray Prokop and Kaye Prokop; and great-nephew, Layton Todd.
