Gertrude “Maxine” Merideth, the daughter of Ralph and Bessie (Aldridge) Merideth was born June 30, 1919 at Cleghorn, Iowa. She graduated from Brook High School in 1938. On September 13, 1946 she was united in marriage to Clarence Magnussen. She was a homemaker and helped outside with the farm work on their farm north of Storm Lake. They retired to an acreage west of Alta in 1973, moved to Arlington Place of Pocahontas in 2004, and Maxine moved to the Pocahontas Manor in 2008. Maxine enjoyed playing cards and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Magnussen in 2006; step-son-in-law, James McManus; her sisters and their spouses, Dorothy and Mack McCarty, Bonnie and Albert Taylor, Phyllis and Buster Lee and Lorraine and Paul Galvin.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, David and Jan Magnussen of Alta, and June and Mike Anderson of Pocahontas; step-daughter, Maxine Elaine McManus of Georgia; five grandchildren, Ann Magnussen, Lynn (Joe) Donnelly, Paul (Jen) Magnussen, Chad (Christine) Anderson, JD (Kari) Anderson; two step-grandchildren; Lonna (Jerry) Mitchell, Donald (Debbie) McManus; ten great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; three step great-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Arbie Merideth.
