Funeral services for Harry C. Bauer Jr., age 90, of Holstein, are pending at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.

Harry passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the Accura HealthCare of Aurelia.

Harry Christian Bauer Jr. was born September 23, 1930 to Louise (Brickman) Bauer and Harry C. Bauer Sr. in Holstein, Iowa.  He attended Holstein Country School then graduated from Holstein High School.  After High School he joined the U.S. Army.

Harry was united in marriage to Dorothy Lange on September 12, 1954 in Sutherland, IA.  To this union three sons were born, Kevin, Michael and David.

Harry was a longtime employee of VT industries.  He was a member of Holstein American Legion and the Holstein United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, gardening and woodworking.  Harry loved entertaining his grandchildren and created a great tune he called “The Chicken Song” that is still sung by all of his grandchildren and now great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Michael Bauer and David Bauer; grandchildren, John Bauer, Tiff Ebert, Kelsey Struck, Tyler Bauer and Kristina Cronin and close family friend, Linda Broderson.  He was “Papa” to many beautiful great-grandchildren.

Harry was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Bauer; parents, Harry and Louise Bauer; sister and husband Iva and Harvey Kaus; brother and wife Herbert and Donna Cooley; and brother Lesslie Bauer.
