Funeral services for Helen M. Vohs, age 93 and Burdell H. Vohs, age 96, of Battle Creek, will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with the Pastor Bob Lewis officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Battle Creek with military rites conducted by the American Legion Maple Valley Post #364 of Battle Creek. Helen passed away on Monday, June 06, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein.
Helen Mary (Jensen) Vohs was born on August 18, 1928 to Henry and Josephine Fay (Hare) Jensen in Battle Creek, Iowa. Helen grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1947. After high school Helen worked as a telephone operator for the local telephone company in Battle Creek.
On October 8, 1950 Helen married Burdell Vohs at the St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. They moved to a farm southeast of Holstein where Burdell farmed with his brother. In 1953 they moved to a farm northeast of Battle Creek where they farmed until 1976 when they moved to Battle Creek.
Helen enjoyed crafts, puzzles, traveling, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. Helen was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holstein, Iowa.
Helen is survived by nephews and nieces, Gale (Eileen) Palmer of Winston Salem, NC, Sandra (Delbert) Persoon of Storm Lake, IA, Terry Jensen of Topeka, KS, Jerrilyn (Richard) Knapp of Cherokee, IA, Jerry Jensen of Sutherland, IA, Dan (Faye) Jensen of Sioux Falls, SD, Jack (Claudia) Jensen of Columbia, MO, Suzanne (Tim) Batz of Centennial, CO, Keith Jensen of Warsaw, MO; and sister-in-law, Frieda Vohs of Holstein, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter; her parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Delores Jensen, Vern Jensen and Ann Massey; sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Charles Palmer; brother-in-law, Wilbert Vohs and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Glenn and Martha Vohs.
