Howard E. Banks was born October 21, 1928 in Tiffin, Ohio to Voris and Ida (Lumis) Banks. In 1945 he joined the United States Navy for two years, then joined the United States Army in 1947 for three years. After the service he tried out for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Howard was an ambulance driver in his early years, and then became a janitor. He also was a professional driver, and drove all over the United States and Canada.
He was united in marriage to Betty Bourne. To this union three children were born.
He is survived by his wife Betty Banks of Storm Lake, IA; children, James of Phoenix, AZ, Richard of Ft. Dodge, IA and Jeannette and husband Tim Loraditch of Alta, IA; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Cliff.
