James Laverne Schmidt was born July 28, 1937 to Minnie and LuVerne Schmidt in Holstein. He graduated from Holstein High School in 1956. On March 30, 1958, he married Elaine Manker. To this union three children were born. He lived and worked most of his life in and around Holstein working various jobs. Jim retired in 2001 from the Co-Op, where he delivered propane for 20 years. Jim loved golf, fishing and BINGO, but mostly he enjoyed meeting people. He believed strongly in family and lending a helping hand when needed. He is preceded in death by his parents. Jim is survived by his wife, Elaine of Holstein; sons, Robert of Holstein and Russell (Laura) of Cherokee; and daughter, Rae Ann (Tony) Peterson of Cherokee; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard (Kathy) of McLean, Va, David (Linda) of Holstein, and Daniel (Karen) of Cherokee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation:
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home
Burial:
Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein.
