Jody Charles Fraser, age 68, of Holstein, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with renal failure. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church of Holstein with Pastor Betty Kiboko officiating. Burial will be at a later date. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at the United Methodist Church of Holstein.
Jody was born in Cherokee, Iowa on June 28, 1956 to Charles and Joyce (LeMoine) Fraser. He lived his whole life in Holstein.
Jody graduated from Holstein High School in 1975. He married Kimberly Miller on July 9, 1977. Together they had three children, Alicia, Billy and Valerie.
In Jody’s 68 years he did a lot of volunteering. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 144 for 20 years. All of the boys from the troop became one of his “kids.” He is so proud of the young men they have become. Jody received many awards through Scouting. He was so proud of doing Woodbadge and receiving his Silver Beaver Award. He loved taking the Boy Scouts on many camping trips including Philmont.
Jody was also active with the United Methodist Church turkey dinner, Pheasants Forever, youth shooting sports, youth wrestling, hunter safety and cooking for state shoot.
Jody is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kim; three children, Alicia Fraser of Cherokee, IA, William “Billy” Fraser and special friend, Shelby of Holstein, IA and Valerie Fraser of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren, Bretton (15), Lathan (10), Annistyn (8), Harmony (Shelby) Kleich and their daughter, Melody of Sioux City, IA, Logan, Kori and Arthur Harris IV. He is also survived by a brother, Thomas (Gwyn) Fraser of Sierra Vista, AZ; sisters, Judy (Wesley) Peterson of Sioux City, IA and Carla Fraser of CO; brothers-in-law, Randy Groepper, Dale Miller, Dennis (Nancy) Miller; sisters-in-law, Karen Miller, Kathy Allen, Kristal (Drea) Miller and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Linda Groepper and nephew, Matthew Groepper and brother-in-law, Dean Miller.
The family would like to thank Dialysis Care Team, Cherokee Home Health and Hospice, many special friends and neighbors and the staff at the Holstein Medical Clinic.
