John Stewart Pfeil

John S. Pfeil, age 81, of Sioux City, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at the MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center of Sioux City, IA. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 1421 Geneva St. Sioux City, IA 51103.

John Stewart Pfeil was born May 12, 1942 in Burank, CA, Los Angeles County. His parents were George and Ruth (McKay) Pfeil.

John was joined in marriage to Connie Lou (Pilcher) Pfeil in Sergeant Bluff, IA on December 23, 1972. They were blessed with a daughter, Laurie.

John worked at Winco in Sioux City and he was transferred to their LeCenter, Minnesota plant in 1976. They lived in New Prague, MN where he worked at United Steel, and then European Roasterie until they moved back to Sioux City in 2006. John worked at Menards until his full retirement around a year ago.

He loved classic cars and attending car shows, particularly Back to the 50’s. He enjoyed dog training and shows with his Afghan Hounds. He also enjoyed his guns, target shooting, and dancing.

John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth Pfeil, and by his sister Kathy Pfeil.

He is survived by his daughter, Laurie (Dave) Sticha of Montgomery, MN; grandchildren, Jonathan (Julie) Sticha of New Prague, MN and Courtney Sticha of Montgomery, MN; great-grandchildren, Harrison Sticha and Amiah and Londyn Pickens.  He is also survived by nephew Jayson (Rachelle) Pilcher of Kenyon, MN; and nieces Mindy (Jeremy) Deplitch of Newcastle, WY and Rochelle (Jordan) Spooner of Hiawatha, IA.
