Joseph "Joe" V. Frank

Joseph Victor Frank was born on December 19, 1930 in Cherokee, Iowa to Herbert and Louise (Onn) Frank. Joe graduated from Pierson, Iowa High School in 1948. He served two years in the U.S. Army while stationed in California and the Panama Canal Zone.

Joe married his high school sweetheart, Betty Warner, on March 24, 1951. They made Galva their home for almost 60 years. Joe farmed in the Galva area for 18 years and worked at the Galva Union Elevator Company for 24 years, retiring in 1996.

Joe was an active member of the Galva United Methodist Church, having served on most of the boards and in most of the positions. He also served on the Galva Community School Board of Directors, Galva Union Elevator Board, Galva Restaurant Corporation Board, Ida County Fair Board, Ida County Extension Council, and as Galva Township Clerk. He was a member of the American Legion Post 454 for over 60 years.

Joe moved to Holstein in 2012 and to Shady Oaks in Lake City in August 2015.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Louise Frank; sister, Mary Frank; brother, Richard Frank; and son-in-law, Ronald Kock.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Betty of Lake City; daughter, Diane Hoppenworth and her husband, Jeffrey of Waukesha, Wisconsin and their children, Scott Hoppenworth (Erin) of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Brian Hoppenworth (Nicole) of Sullivan, Wisconsin; daughter, Debra Kock of Carroll, Iowa and her children, Amanda Rinehart (Jeremy) of Johnston, Iowa , Julie Kenney (Mark) of Ankeny, Iowa, and Ryan Kock (Katie) of Carroll, Iowa; son, Scott Frank and his wife, Jennie of Mason City, Illinois and their children, Emily Frank of Hannibal, Missouri, Katie Frank of Springfield, Illinois, and Mollie Frank of Mason City, Illinois; daughter, Lisa Robinson and her husband, Rick of Shelbyville, Indiana; and sister, Helen Cameron of Alta, Iowa. Also surviving are ten great-grandchildren, Alyvia Hoppenworth, Mya Hoppenworth, Elyse Rinehart, Grayson Rinehart, Lauren Kenney, Landon Kenney, Caden Kock, Ali Kock, Chloe Kock, and Bode Kock.
