Holstein

Kenneth E. Wulf, age 88, of Holstein, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center of Cherokee.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church of Holstein with the Rev. Doresa K. Collogan and the Rev. Curtis E. Benson officiating.  Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein with military rites conducted by the American Legion Dessel-Schmidt Post # 225 of Holstein.  A visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein.

Kenneth E. Wulf was born on May 28, 1931 to George and Luella (Schmidt) Wulf.  He graduated from Holstein High School.  Ken served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954.

On June 12, 1955 Ken married Reva Rohwer.  The couple had two sons, Kevin and Kelby.  Ken and Reva lived on the family farm until 1984 when they moved into town.

Ken enjoyed many summer fishing trips to Canada.  He loved spending time with family and friends at The Lakes.  Ken was a member of the Holstein American Legion and served on the Holstein State Bank/Heritage Bank Board as well as the Holstein Cooperative Elevator board.  Kenneth had a passion for farming, which he passed down to both sons with whom he farmed, completing his final harvest in the fall of 2018.  Although Kenneth was no longer helping the boys on the farm he made sure he was up to date on the day-to-day happenings.  He will be remembered as a tough man who worried more about everyone else than himself.  He spent many years caring for his wife Reva and never had a complaint.

Kenneth is survived by two sons, Kevin (Karen) and Kelby (Joy); grandchildren, Lore (Ryan) Newell, Natalie Wulf, Elizabeth (Derek) Conover, Kaitlin (Austin) Moeller, Chad (Brandi) Sharkey, Libby (Wade) Bagenstos, Lindsay Ruble and Afton Wulf; great-grandchildren, Avery Newell, Cameron & Carson Sharkey, Tregg & Hadley Bagenstos, and Jace & Elsie Ruble; sister-in-law Kathy Wulf; niece, Sheila (Larry) Wipf and their children Lacey, Sarah, Lily and Sawyer and niece Deana Wulf.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Reva; brother, Wilford; parents, George and Luella; and parents-in-law, Hank and Ethel Rohwer.
