Correctionville

Kevern R. Koskovich, age 75, of Correctionville, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Banner-University Medical Center of Phoenix, AZ.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 08, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Salem Lutheran Church of rural Correctionville with the Pastor Jody Still Herbold officiating.  Burial will be at the Correctionville Cemetery of Correctionville.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 07, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville.

Kevern (Kev) Russell Koskovich was born to Russell and Marvel (Wechler) Koskovich on August 13, 1948 in Cherokee, Iowa. Kev passed away at Banner University Hospital, AZ on April 27, 2024; he was 75. He lived his childhood years on the farm in rural Correctionville. He attended Correctionville Community School and graduated in 1966. After graduation, Kev attended University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD. While in college he met and married Kathy Ann Bedell on August 17, 1968. Kathy and Kev were married 32 years and made their home in Correctionville.

Kev worked 30 years for American Equipment in Sioux City. He also worked 12 years for Johnson Propane in Battle Creek, IA. Kev also worked as a truck driver during spring seasons for Anfinson’s in Cushing. Kathy passed away in 2000. Kev later met Katherine (Glienke) Andersen and were married May 3, 2002. They resided in rural Correctionville until his death.

Kev was active in 4-H as a boy, and later became a 4-H leader for Rock Kee Union 4-H Club in Woodbury County. He was active in rodeo clubs, and in his younger years competed by riding broncs at many Midwest rodeos, as a card-carrying PRCA member. He accompanied his granddaughters as they participated in Iowa High School Rodeo.

Kev and his first wife, Kathy had a craft business and were vendors for many years with the Huffman Shows of Omaha, NE.

He officiated football for six years with Ray Cole, Timm Funk, and Steve Schmidt. Kev was on the Correctionville City Council and was a board member of CEDCORP in Correctionville. He was active with curating archaeological collections for the Rural Woodbury Historical Museum in Correctionville. Kev was a collector and a member of the Bit and Spur Collectors Society. He loved to collect old west bits and spurs as well as Native American artifacts. He would love to attend the old west auctions in Osmond, NE. He also had a much-loved hobby collecting fossils and minerals with his close friend, Pat Saulsbury. He was a member of the Siouxland Gem and Mineral Society. Kev was known to give many tours of his gem and mineral collection to young kids. Most of all Kev, is fondly remembered by his love of conversation and amazing humor!

Kev is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Kathy (Bedell) Koskovich; his sister, Debra (Rip) Martin; his mother and father-in-law, Bob and Annamae Bedell; father-in-law, Everett Glienke and brother-in-law, Jack Butler.

Kev is lovingly remembered by his wife, Katherine (Kate) of Correctionville, IA; daughter Holly (Rod) Brown of Ponca,  NE; son Russell Koskovich of Wickenburg, AZ;  stepsons, Kristian (Heather) Andersen of Spencer, IA and Nathan (Teresa) Andersen of Emmetsburg, IA; granddaughters, Haley Brown of Ponca, NE, Cheyenne (Peter) Haukaas, Bodee and Whitlee of Winner, SD, Haley (Cooper) Sykes, Avery and Dax, of Spencer, IA, and Makenzie (Cameron) Cantrall of Waterloo, IA; grandsons, Colton Andersen of Burlington, IA, Brady Andersen of Emmetsburg, IA and Devin Andersen of Spencer, IA. He is also survived by brother, Kelly (Joan) Koskovich of Kingsley, IA; mother-in-law, Vera Glienke of Spencer, IA; brother-in-law, Rip Martin of Grass Valley, CA;  sister-in-law, Pam Ransford of McCook Lake, SD; brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Penny) Glienke of Webb, IA, David (Sue) Glienke of Greenville, IA, and Bill (Merry) Glienke of Boone, IA and sister-in-law, Carolyn Gibson of Sioux Rapids, IA. Kev will be dearly remembered and missed by many of his aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends!
