May 7, 1956 — January 15, 2013

Military rites will be conducted by the Alta VFW Post #6172. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Larry Ray Page, known to friends and family as “Porky” was born on May 7, 1956 to William and Elaine (Olson) Page in Harlan, Iowa. He attended school in Harlan, Iowa, graduating in 1975. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and served until 1980. In May of 1978, Porky moved to Storm Lake, Iowa and later to Alta where he served the remainder of his life. He worked in production at Bil Mar Foods for 20 years. In 1998, he attended truck-driving school, graduating with his CDL certificate. Over the next 10 years, he worked maintenance jobs and served with the Alta Fire Department until a major injury kept him home on disability. Porky was a simple man who enjoyed simple things: riding motorcycles, short drives around town, eating at Subway, cheering on the Vikings, and playing cards at Clem’s. He loved spending time with family and friends and he looked forward to the “Page Family Christmas Campout” every summer. Family and friends will remember him for his caring ways and funny sense of humor.

Porky was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ricky Lee; and sister, Debra Jean.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Sandy Carlson of Storm Lake, Iowa; brothers, Bill (Kathy) of Chula Vista, CA and Keith (Natalie) of Alta, IA; nieces, Jodie (Myron) Goodwin of Linn Grove, IA, Mandy (Joseph) Leonard of Alta, IA and Melissa Page of Chula Vista, CA; nephews, Shawn (Trena) Page of Atlantic, IA, Jim (Jennifer) Schumacher of Harlan, IA, Toby Schumacher of Council Bluffs, IA, Bill Schumacher of Rockwell City, IA, Jason (fiancé Krystal) Page of Alta, IA, and Matthew (Laura) Page of Alta, IA; six great-nieces; 12 great-nephews; and many other extended family and friends.
