Lee Roy Marsh was born December 19, 1924 in Ida Grove, Iowa to Clarence “Pete” and Sarah Hadassa (Blackman) Marsh. Lee was a church soloist, sang and danced for many civic and community events, and was president of his high school senior class. He participated in many high school athletics including track and football, where he was the captain and quarterback of the team.
Lee served as Sergeant in the Marine Corps during World War II, where he was captain of his platoon. He was united in marriage to Shirley Jean Mayberry on June 8, 1947 in Sac City, Iowa.
He worked as an electrician and local supervisor for Iowa Public Service/Mid-American Energy Corporation for 40 years. He was a Grand Mason and joined Consistory in the Order of the Masonic Temple, member of the Holstein American Legion and was active in many civic events in the communities of Charter Oak, Battle Creek, Ida Grove and Holstein.
Lee is survived by his wife, Shirley of Holstein, IA; daughters, Shirleen Kay Roach of St. Paul, MN, Lorrie Lea Marsh of San Diego, CA and Sara Jean Kreutz of Holstein, IA; and one son, Hunter Abraham Marsh of Sioux City, IA; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Edwin D. Marsh, John D. Marsh and three brothers in infancy.
