Leonard "Bud" Clarence Beaver

Moville

Leonard “Bud” Clarence Beaver, age 93 passed away on August 16, 2023 at his home in Moville.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church of Moville with Fr. Randy Schon officiating.  A visitation will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Church of Moville. Burial will be at a later date. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Wink-Sparks Post #303 of Moville following the funeral service.

Leonard “Bud” Clarence Beaver was born on February 1, 1930 to Clarence and Lola (Custer) Beaver on a farm near Oto, Iowa.  He graduated from Climbing Hill High School in 1948 then joined the Army where he became a Sergeant and served from 1951-1953 in Vienna, Austria.  He received an honorable discharge in 1953.  He was a member of the Hornick American Legion.

Bud was united in marriage to Phyllis A. Borgheiinck on June 30, 1951 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sioux City, IA.  They were blessed with six children. Bud and Phyllis raised their family on a farm near Climbing Hill then moved to Moville in 2007.

Bud worked in the ASC office as a government inspector for grain bins.  He also owned Beaver & Son Service Station in addition to farming grains and raising livestock.  Bud loved ’57 Chevys, woodworking, watching NASCAR, and gardening.  He enjoyed any time spent with his family; whether it was at family gatherings, attending sporting events or going for rides with Nick in his red pickup.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Moville, IA; children, Randy (Sherry) Beaver, Annette (Danny) Harmes, Jody (Jeff) Petersen, Sandy (Pat) Rogers, all of Moville, IA and Dennis (Joy) Beaver of Riverview, FL; grandchildren, Andy (Jamie), Shannon (Adam), Katie, Kelly (Adam), Jill (Mike), Jennifer (Brian), Jessie (Jay), Jeremy (Bree), Matt (Ann), Nick, Brooke (JJ), and Landon (Kimberly); great-grandchildren, Casey, Brand, Brodie, Gracie, Addi, Lexi, Keagan, Cora, Jada, Gabe, Logan, Parker, Ivy, Jasper and Macy.  He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Bev Borgheiinck and Eleanor (Dan) Zimmerman and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah; parents, Clarence and Lola; granddaughter, Kayla Harmes; sister, Norma (Gerald) Bromander; parents-in-law, John and Annie Borgheiinck; brothers-in-law, Stephen (June) Borgheiinck and Don Borgheiinck.
