Leslie E. Edwards was born March 3, 1915 in Correctionville, Iowa to Lawrence and Zelma (McCleery) Edwards. He was born and raised on a farm and lived his entire life in Union Township. He went to country school for eight years, and then graduated from Correctionville High School in 1933.
He was married to Elizabeth “Libby” Lyman in 1939. To this union three children were born. He was a farmer until his retirement in 1978.
Les was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and looking after his livestock. Les also square danced for several years. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years; sister, Lela; brothers, Cecil, Lloyd and Oral.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Larry (Marcia) of Marion, IA, Audrey (Norm) Cross of Topock, AZ and Janalee (Richard) Williams of Holstein, IA; grandchildren, Chris (Lisa) Edwards, Molly (Kurt) Hoover, Leslie (Mary) Lynott, LeChelle Schilz, Alan (Emily) Williams, Ronn Williams and Trisha (Mark) Vincent; great-grandchildren, Grace and Jackson Edwards, Lorelei Lynott, Kayla, Andrew and Ashley Schilz, Riley and Ashlyn Williams, and Brittney, Wade, Leanna and Tailor Vincent; and one brother, Lawrence Edwards.
