Loraine A. Harth

February 18, 1930 — August 22, 2015

Loraine Amanda Gerke was born February 18, 1930 in Newell, Iowa to Henry and Irene (Ehlers) Gerke. She was baptized March 9, 1930 at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church on April 2, 1944.

She was united in marriage to Darvin Harth, of Alta, on December 7, 1952 at Zion Lutheran Church. They had two daughters, Janelle and Jerri.

The couple lived on a farm west of Albert City before moving to Alta in September of 1954. She was a stay at home mother, but helped her husband with the shoe repair business. She enjoyed reading and going to school sporting events as well as school programs.

After moving to Alta the family joined St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the L.W.M.L., Ladies Aid, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.

Loraine was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Irene Gerke; husband, Darvin; parents-in-law, Alfred and Marie Harth; sister and brother-in-law, Neoma and Eldo Bartels; and granddaughter Jennifer Boyle.

She is survived by her daughters, Janelle (Rick) Hopkins of Kansas City, MO and Jerri (Russell) Boyle of Alta, Iowa; grandsons, Adam Harth of Merrill, IA, Brian Hopkins of Independence, MO, and Jon Boyle of Casselton, N.D.; great-grandsons, Loggan Norwood of Storm Lake, IA, Austin Harth of Newell, IA, and Skyler Harth of Newell, IA; sister and brother-in-law, Lorna (Willis) Lussman of Storm Lake, IA and many other extended family and friends. The family would like to thank Eileen Newkirk who has been a very good friend for many years and was always there for Loraine.
