Lucille LaVonne Perkins, daughter of Orville and Vinnie (Joy) Foster, was born February 11, 1928 in Sioux City. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Correctionville.
On January 25, 1947 Lucille was joined in marriage to Gerald Perkins in Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Correctionville, where Lucille owned and operated Perkins Café. For decades she enjoyed serving her community with homemade meals and building lasting relationships with her customers and staff.
Lucille found her greatest joy in her family. She enjoyed every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to attend a family gathering or go uptown to Club Casmo for a meal. She also looked forward to her frequent shopping trips. Less than a week before her passing she enjoyed an afternoon shopping with her daughter and granddaughters, a memory they will always cherish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gerald of 63 years; daughter, Sharon Hunwardsen; sons, Gary Caskey and Doug Perkins; sister, Opal Byers and brothers, Kenneth Foster and Norman Foster.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Doug) Thompson; son-in-law Steve Hunwardsen; daughter-in-law, Mary Caskey, all of Correctionville; grandchildren Scott (Kathy) Hunwardsen; Shane (Amber) Hunwardsen; Tara (Jesse) Pedersen, Lacy (Tyler) Allen; Abby (Wade) Riley; Sheila Carter; Trina Camerer and Todd Peters; sister Joyce Goosman. Lucille will also be missed greatly by 17 great grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces and a special niece Nancy Sargent.
