Marie was born September 9, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to James T. & Marie (Breen) Leonard III. She was the oldest of two children and grew up in Maple Shade, NJ. On October 13, 1956 Marie married Homer (Pete) Stines Sr., and moved to the Correctionville/Holstein area.
Marie ran the Das Schuhhaus from 1973 to 1983. In 1985 she began her career as a CNA at the Good Samaritan Center in Holstein. There she spent 21 Years working the night shift in the Alzheimer’s Unit until she retired in 2006. This is where her heart was and she loved every minute of it.
Marie is a longtime member of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Holstein, loved working her crossword puzzles, playing games, gardening, playing the piano and organ, and spending time with her friends and family.
She is preceeded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Homer Stines; five children, Marianne (Rich) Melton of Iselin, NJ, Homer (Melissa) Stines Jr. of Cushing, Beverly Stines of Cherokee, IA, Mark (Pam) Stines of Dakota City, NE and Todd Stines of Holstein, IA; 19 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and one brother, James T. (Shooty) Leonard IV.
